Delaire Graff Estate Villa Named One of the Top Wellness Suites in the World be Elite Traveller

Elite Traveler’s Elite Suites is an ever-expanding collection of the finest accommodations around the world. For this year's wellness edit, Elite Traveler took the refined selection of suites and elevated those that truly excel in the art of wellbeing.

Delaire Graff Estate is proud to announce that the Owners Villa has been named by Elite Traveler as one of the top wellness suites in the world. Reserved for suites that consistently meet Elite Traveler’s highest expectations, this distinction highlights suites that have been purposely designed to help guests recharge in every sense.

Created with peerless exclusivity in mind, every facet of the private, fully-serviced, four-bedroom Owner’s Villa at Delaire Graff Estate has been designed and crafted to provide guests with the ultimate Cape Winelands experience.

A deeply personal project for renowned diamantaire and the owner of Delaire Graff Estate, Laurence Graff OBE, he personally curated each artwork on display within the 660-square metre Villa from his private collection, including pieces by Yves Dana, Jabu Nala and Cyrus Kabiru.

Overlooking the magnificent Stellenbosch Valley and set across two floors with dark- fumed oak timber flooring throughout, the Villa comprises an entrance and lobby, living room, dining room, kitchen, pool and jacuzzi terrace, a family room, fully equipped gym, four master bedrooms – each with their own private balcony, bathroom, and dressing room.

“The Owner’s Villa is a very personal project for me. It is an extension of what we already offer at Delaire – fabulous service, exemplary art, the finest South African hospitality and the most incredible views – but with even greater levels of luxury and privacy.”Laurence Graff OBE

“The building, by dhk Architects, sits at ease within the rolling vineyards, it echoes the local architectural vernacular and embraces local techniques and skills. Laurence Graff ’s private collection of contemporary African art creates an exceptional story for us to work with, and when combined with the previously established DNA of the property, enables us to create a luxurious offering never before seen in the region.

“Marrying design classics, colour and texture with historic and modern African art, a Villa has been created that encapsulates the world of Delaire Graff Estate. The space has been designed with relaxation and entertainment front of mind, allowing guests to feel instantly at one with the majestic landscape. Where possible, regional craftsmanship has been embraced, bringing a soft and subtle luxury to the interiors, embodying everything that the Estate stands for.”

A PRIVATE SANCTUARY
A dramatic timber front door leads onto the lobby, which serves as a gallery space with expansive walls displaying an evolving collection of artwork. The walls themselves are covered in a textured, neutral wall covering with a horizontal stripe pattern. A custom bronze mirror hangs above a console crafted by a local artisan flanked by curved alabaster wall lights.

An impressive 6.6 metre double-height living and dining space is accessed through large timber double doors and separated by an open double-sided bronze-clad fireplace. A locally sourced antique African bench sits by the fire. The timber ceiling is lined with slatted 200-year-old French oak and solid oak trusses, from which hang a pair of white plaster chandeliers commissioned for the Villa by Alexandre Logé.

EXACTING ATTENTION TO DETAIL
The walls are covered in fine-textured ivory linen, while the curtains feature oyster linen with linen sheers, contrasting with a hand -woven fabric with an African chevron motif. The furniture is by Vladimir Kagan and includes a large organic serpentine three-metre- long sofa upholstered in a burnt orange Loro Piana fabric. Other pieces include two Kagan barrel armchairs in an ivory boucle, a coffee table in dark timber and Nero Marquina by Charlotte Perriand and custom side tables created by artist Atang Tshikare.

Leading from the living room, an additional family room with a neutral colour palette in shades of silver, grey, and mink contrasts with burnt orange, ensuring a visual connection with the living room’s colour scheme. Furniture includes a floor-to-ceiling mounted bookcase, a large sectional sofa and a painted woven rope desk by the French artisan Christian Astuguevielle.

The dining room features green leather upholstered dining chairs by Holly Hunt, a Christian Liaigre dining table, and a Jean-Michel Frank console, all anchored by a hand- knotted woollen silk rug in shades of ivory, taupe and fern green ochre in an African fern-chevron motif.

A fully appointed kitchen by Assirelli includes Gaggenau appliances with feature pendants above the central island and work surfaces in flamed local granite.

Outdoors, a private 19 square metre pool and a jacuzzi are lined in a pale glass mosaic. Teak furniture, hand-carved locally sourced travertine side tables, and a shower are also features within the space.

Dark fumed oak timber flooring continues into the primary bedroom suite, overlaid with a hand-knotted rug.The bedroom walls are lined with a woven linen covering. The two-metre-wid e bed is upholstered in a hand -woven dusky-pink ombre fabric with a Christian Liaigre bench upholstered in ox-blood leather at its foot, whilst a pair of Kagan armchairs in dusky pink flank the fireplace with marble-topped sid e tables by Alexandre Logé. Cast bronze sculptural lamps sit on either side of the bed atop dark timber bed sid e tables. The ceiling is lined in antique French oak timber.

All bedrooms feature a fireplace, a dressing room and a private balcony with a dining table and chairs. Each bedroom has its own neutral palette. Bathrooms are finished in honed Crema Marfil marble and polished Imperial Marron with custom vanity wall lights in milk glass and matt nickel with separate WCs and shower enclosures.

Providing unparalleled service, the Villa is fully serviced, offering a personal butler, housekeeping and a private chef. To ensure every need is met, a personal concierge service is available to guests, whether they need help planning an itinerary or sourcing a particular item.

“The Owner’s Villa is a very personal project for me. It is an extension of what we already offer at Delaire – fabulous service, exemplary art, the finest South African hospitality and the most incredible views – but with even greater levels of luxury and privacy.” Laurence Graff OBE
